I help independent media organizations make sense of their data and tech stack so they can reach their audience and revenue goals! (That's a fancy way of saying I fill in any marketing and product gaps so you can focus on what you do best: producing journalism.)

In practice, this could look like:

  • Analyzing existing revenue, website, and email service provider (ESP) data to prove (or disprove) “gut feelings”;
  • Gathering first-party data through surveys and focus groups to help newsrooms better understand their audience or test out a product idea;
  • Making mindful strategic recommendations based on data and newsroom capacity to help achieve engagement or revenue goals;
  • Troubleshooting and/or connecting third-party tools (e.g. Stripe, Mailchimp, Eventbrite) so that data gets consolidated in one place, without having to manually look;
  • Coaching newsrooms so that they understand how to make the most out of their tech and are ultimately able to operate independently; and
  • Driving full-funnel growth using integrated marketing campaigns (email, paid social/CPC, organic social, websites).

When we work together, expect a blend of strategy, analysis, and hands-on implementation. I'm a generalist, and what I don't know I am confident I can learn!
