Tayo Akinyemi

Temitayo ('Tayo) Akinyemi is a media and product strategist with over six years of professional experience, combining newsroom leadership, product innovation, and audience growth. He began publishing opinion columns at 16 and later modernized his university press club by moving news from notice boards to social media and the web, sparking his career-long focus on meeting audiences where they are.

He has since worked across Africa’s media ecosystem: editing more than 200 technology stories at Space in Africa; integrating satellite imagery and open-source intelligence at HumAngle Media, where he also launched HumAngle Interactive; and serving as Editor-in-Chief at Zikoko Citizen, a Big Cabal Media brand, where he scaled audience reach to 5 million views in 60 days during Nigeria’s 2023 elections.

Most recently, he worked remotely with Media Development Investment Fund, New York, advising 28 newsrooms on product roadmaps, agile coaching, and revenue strategy. Based in Toronto since 2024, Temitayo has supported local newsrooms with product ideation, and also volunteers with Bike Brigade as a product manager and the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation, grounding his professional work in community service.
